Canandaigua Event FAQs
Where can I find out about upcoming Canandaigua events?
Right here on Canandaigua Current. We round up local events regularly, from lakeside concerts and downtown happenings to markets, theater, and community gatherings. For the finest details, we link out to each venue or organizer so you can grab tickets and double-check times.
Where do I park for events in Canandaigua?
That depends on the venue. Downtown has street parking and public lots within an easy walk of Main Street, while lakeside spots and larger venues have their own lots. For popular events, parking fills up quickly, so arriving early is the safest bet.
What should I bring to an outdoor Canandaigua event?
For an outdoor show or a day by the lake, a few basics go a long way: sunscreen, a hat, and a layer for when the temperature drops in the evening. For lawn events, a blanket or a low folding chair makes a big difference, and a refillable water bottle is handy on a warm day, though some venues have their own rules on what you can bring in, so it is worth checking ahead. Our lake conditions tool is a quick way to see what the weather has in store before you go.
Do Canandaigua events still happen if it rains?
Most outdoor venues around here run rain or shine, and tickets are usually non-refundable for weather. For lawn shows, a poncho is a safer bet than a large umbrella, since oversized umbrellas are often not allowed. Our lake conditions tool is a quick way to check what the weather is doing around town before you head out.
Are events in Canandaigua family-friendly?
Many are. Markets, garden events, daytime festivals, and the waterfront are all easy, welcoming outings for kids. Evening concerts and brewery shows tend to draw more of an adult crowd, so if you are bringing little ones, it is worth checking the details of that specific event first.
What else is there to do in Canandaigua while I’m in town?
Plenty! Main Street in Canandaigua has restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance of downtown, and the lakefront at the north end of the lake is a great spot to relax before or after an event. The surrounding area is also known for its wineries and breweries, so it is easy to turn a single event into a full day out.
What is CMAC?
CMAC, short for the Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center, is the large outdoor amphitheater on the Finger Lakes Community College campus at 3355 Marvin Sands Drive. It hosts major touring concerts all summer, with covered pavilion seating up front and a big open lawn behind it. Because it is an open-air venue, most shows happen rain or shine.
What is CMAC’s bag policy?
CMAC uses a clear bag policy. You can bring a clear bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a small clutch or wallet under 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Opaque bags are not permitted besides diaper bags, and everyone goes through a security check on the way in, so packing light will get you through the gate faster.
What can I bring into a CMAC show?
If you have a lawn ticket, you can bring a lawn chair or a blanket to set up on the grass. You are also allowed to bring one empty plastic water bottle to refill at the water stations inside. Outside food, drinks, coolers, professional cameras with detachable lenses, and recording equipment are not allowed. Keep in mind there is no re-entry once you are inside, so bring everything you will need. Rules can shift from show to show, so it is smart to check the official CMAC site before you go.
How do parking, arrival, and tickets work at CMAC?
CMAC offers paid parking on site, and VIP parking can be purchased ahead of time. The lots and surrounding roads back up quickly on show nights, so give yourself plenty of extra time and plan to arrive early. Star Cider also offers paid parking right next to CMAC.
Tickets are mobile, so download them to your phone’s wallet before you get there. Screenshots are not accepted at the gate, so have the actual mobile ticket ready to scan.
Where can I learn more about CMAC?
The official CMAC website is the best place for the full concert schedule, seating charts, ticket links, and their complete list of venue policies. You can find it all at cmacevents.com.
